Viviani: Stop in America before leaving Australia

Yes, suppose we combine business with pleasure. I had the chance to go see the Grand Prix in Las Vegas, after that we decided to bring the bikes with us for training. I was still in that production period where you didn’t do specific work, but more of the short work hours.

What was your experience in the world of Formula One?

Even though we live in Monaco, we have never seen a race. Friends working in this world got this opportunity and we took advantage of it. Elena and I also know Fernando Alonso’s physiotherapist Fabrizio Borra and Formula One boss Stefano Domenicali, to whom we are grateful for the experience. There was plenty of room for play, but also plenty of entertainment. Las Vegas was full of celebrities like Rihanna and David Beckham. Two whole days?

Sure enough, we were at the Alfa Romeo garage Thanks to Tiffany Cromwell for being Elena’s teammate and girlfriend of driver Valtteri Bottas. After the race you started cycling for a week, how was that?

Beautiful, indeed. We moved to Los Angeles, where in 2013 I was with Cannondale for a group presentation. And some of my teammates often go there on holidays. In fact we met Thomas and cycled together. The routes are incredibly beautiful, and the Venice Beach Cycle Path is postcard-perfect. Then you had to go inland and there was no transport. Elena and I promised to spend two weeks cycling in those areas.

How is the training going?

Well, since last week I have changed my style. The first period, from the beginning of November to the 20th, I gradually increased the number of hours with less intensity. Even in America I added some climbs at the exits, but did it in a gentle way. From November 20th to December 4th, my departure date for the retreat, I picked up the pace, but not much.. I have three blocks of work and I need to switch gears.

During the same period the national track team retreated in Noto, did you and Villa discuss your absence?

There are no major riders in the retreat in Noto, which is the meeting point for the foundation of the road, specifically reserved for women, U23 kids and continental competitors. Even at the December retreats, we spend a lot of time with teams of WT Team riders. The first meeting we are all invited to attend is from 20th to 23rd December before Christmas. If so the villa will not allow non-residents.
