Departures and arrivals were temporarily suspended at Orio Al Serio Airport, after this morning a Ryanair flight coming from Barcelona, which had just landed, suffered a 4 tire explosion. No one is hurt. The plane stopped on the runway and firefighters evacuated the passengers.
The plane – with 162 passengers and 6 crew members on board – was still moving slightly and the pilot, according to an initial reconstruction, was able to bring it to grips with the runway.
Sacbo, which operates Milan Bergamo Airport, announces the suspension of operations. Departing flights are delayed and arriving flights may be subject to diversion or cancellation until Caravaggio Airport reopens. Reopening is expected at 5 p.m.
Resulted in tire explosion Damage to 450 meters of the runway. “The damage affected the floors superficially, as they were scratched to a depth of about one centimeter,” explained the Sacpo company that manages the airport. “For this reason, the floors must be restored with the urgent intervention of a specialized company.”
