The storied Nebraska-Oklahoma rivalry will be renewed on Saturday when the two teams square off in the Big 12 Championship game in Kansas City.
Despite having to travel nearly 200 miles, Arrowhead Stadium will be full of plenty of Husker and Sooner fans.
The two schools have sold all of the allotted tickets, but it's not too late to purchase tickets. If you want to see all of the hard-hitting action live, Ticketmaster does have a few tickets remaining. Contact Ticketmaster via the web at www.ticketmaster.com or by phone at 475-1212.
Jeff Ashelford, a University of Nebraska-Lincoln senior advertising major, said he had purchased tickets as soon as they went on sale.
"I had a feeling that the Huskers would make it," Ashelford said, "I'm just glad that they didn't let me down because I'm not sure what I would do."
Ashelford will be joining other University of Nebraska-Lincoln faculty members and students cheering on their beloved Huskers.
Bill Kollar a staff member for Campus Crusade for Christ said he hopes to watch the game on televison and said he's hoping to see the Huskers defeat the Sooners.
Brent Nesbitt, a freshman marketing major, said he bought tickets the day after Nebraska clinched the Big 12 North title by defeating Texas A&M. These people will join the nearly 53,000 Husker fans predicted to be at Arrowhead Stadium Saturday evening.
Nebraska is making it's fourth appearance in the title game and its first since 1999, Eric Crouch's sophomore season. Oklahoma is making its fifth trip to the game, having won in 2000 and 2004.
Oklahoma has had an interesting year. Quarterback Paul Thompson started the season as a wide receiver, but because of the eventual dismissal of Rhett Bomar, he was forced to take over the quarterback position.
This will mark the first meeting between the longtime rivals in the Big 12 Championship. Nebraska hasn't defeated Oklahoma since October 2001 when freshman Mike Stuntz connected with Eric Crouch on a double-reverse-pass. The Cornhuskers upset the No. 2 ranked Sooners 20-10 en route to a birth in the Rose Bowl to play Miami for the national championship.
