University of Nebraska football fans that aren't making the trip to Manhattan this weekend for the Nebraska-Kansas State football game are going to have to take it a step further in order to see the Huskers on television.
Monday afternoon, Kansas State University announced that the NU-KSU game will be part of a Fox Sports Net pay-per-view package, forcing fans to pay $29.95 for the game or find a local business that is offering a viewing.
But that's not stopping most Husker fans, which have been known to pay any fee for pay-per-view telecasts in the past.
"You hate to pay anything because you usually get it for free, but it's worth any price to watch the Huskers," said Garrett Wright, a University of Nebraska-Lincoln junior who will watch the game with a group of friends. "I can't wait to see the Blackshirts kick the crap out of Josh Freeman anyway."
Some Lincoln businesses look to take advantage of the pay-view-broadcast in order to increase their business - others don't.
"It's just not worth the risk," said Reg McMeen, part-owner of Duffy's Tavern on 14th and O streets. "If it was a home game we might buy it, but we would probably only have 20 people in here this weekend and I don't think we would make a profit."
The risk McMeen is talking about is a $500 commercial fee that restaurants and bars must pay to show the game in public. In the past, businesses have charged $5 per person to get in, but that doesn't seem to be the case this weekend for some Lincoln bars.
"We'll have it on," said Brad Allison, a bartender at Brewsky's Food & Spirits in the Haymarket. "We're hoping that the money from the food and drinks pays for itself. It's good for business and it will be packed in here."
In fact, all four Brewsky's locations in Lincoln will show the game, as will Brother's Bar and Grill, Buzzard Billy's and Barry's Bar and Grill. None said that they plan to charge for people to view the game, which marks the seventh time that the Huskers have been on pay-per-view since the Missouri game on Oct. 12, 2002. Since that date, an average of 20,000 Nebraska homes have purchased pay-per-view games, and nearly 40,000 nationwide.

Notes: Nebraska is 6-0 in pay-per-view broadcasts, including a 56-0 win over Troy this season on Sept. 23rd.
This marks just the second pay-per-view broadcast in Kansas State's history.
DirecTV subscribers can purchase the game on channel 797. Further details on how to buy the game will be announced this week.
