A season of change
Most Husker fans are talking about the current football season, but Thursday night, close to 2,500 fans took a break from touchdowns to focus on free throws.
In the red versus white scrimmage at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, the white team took a 38-36 win on a layup by Evan Taylor with 4.6 seconds left, and the red team missed a chance to win the game at the buzzer as Glynn Watson’s final shot missed.
A hopeful outlook
Prior to the scrimmage, the Huskers had a 90-minute practice. During the practice, sixth year head coach Tim Miles took the microphone and announced his appreciation for the Husker faithful. He also talked about the future.
“My job is to blend the right lineups for as long as possible,” Miles said. “Expect a different team, a faster team this season. A team that will get back to the tournament.”
Coming up next
Husker fans cheered as standout players like junior Isaac Copeland, freshman Isaiah Roby, junior James Palmer and senior Duby Okeke flashed their skills. Layup after layup turned into dunks and tricks.
Okeke was a leader during the scrimmage and is a projected starter for the upcoming season.
The Husker basketball team will start their 2017-2018 run on Nov. 11 against Eastern Illinois in Lincoln.
