The Cofán: A clash between beliefs in the Amazon
The Cofán are an indigenous people who live off the main channel of the Aguarico River in the northeastern part of the Ecuadorian Amazon. They live off the land — hunting, fishing and eating what grows in the rain forest. This is a story of a clash between forces within their small community. While most worship shamans, a few have shifted their beliefs to Christianity, challenging the ancient way in favor of western ideals.
