Most college seniors are lucky to receive a job right out of college, Rhett Muller made his own.

Situated in the heart of O Street, between a Walgreens and a Scooter’s and numerous Nebraska novelty stores, sits Red Thread Ad Agency, the love child of Muller and three of his friends.RhettMuller

“I really have no idea where I will be in the future. Red Thread is a day-to-day challenge to constantly make it work. It’s exciting and terrifying,” Muller said.

Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, Muller and his buddies started the agency in April of 2014 on the back of the Red Thread of Fate legend. The legend states that people cross paths for a reason, that everyone who is destined to meet and work together is connected via a red string.

“We liked the idea of connectivity and each connection with clients and other businesses being something that was meant to be,” Muller said.

As he finishes off his college career with a degree in both journalism and AD/PR, Muller will also compete in his final National Student Advertising Competition this summer. NSAC is a nation-wide clash of creativity where UNL has won first place at the district level for the past six years.

Nebraska’s NSAC team finished in the top 8 nationally last year and Muller has high hopes that his red string will take him to Las Vegas this June to compete in the national finals yet again.
