Ashley Wolff bio
Ashley Wolff is a senior journalism major at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln minoring in art. Born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, Ashley moved to Lincoln to attend UNL. She is a full-time student at the journalism school. Ashley plans on graduating in the spring of 2016 and hopes to work in the magazine side of print.
During Ashley’s first year at UNL she was a merchandising major. Afterwards, switched to merchandising and communications. She took a look at textile merchandising and fashion design and became interested in the business side of those professions, especially print magazines, and ended up in photojournalism.
Ashley’s current journalism focus is on photography and videography. Ashley said she has always liked photography and is constantly messing around with different cameras. She received her first camera in her freshman year of high school.
“I’ve always messed around with cameras, but I started to veer away from it as a profession because it was an intimidating career but ultimately I came back and realized that through journalism I could do photography and really enjoy it”
Ashley’s hobbies include listening to a variety of different types of music (no specific type of genre she prefers) and attending live concerts.
Last summer, Ashley interned with a professional photographer and through him received good studio experience with cameras and as a freelance photographer.
Ashley’s dream job would involve working at a magazine that puts the emphasis on photography. A place like National Geographic is where she would love to end up.
