Katie Nelson: Aspiring Advocate
Katie Nelson of Kearney, Neb., has had a busy senior year. She spent her fall semester in Spain teaching English and studying at the local university.
“The most meaningful thing that happened to me in Spain was meeting this tight-knit group of beautiful, eccentric people,” she said, “They taught me a lot about myself and others around me.”
Upon returning, she continued her studies in journalism, political science and Spanish. She plans to graduate in August of 2014. When she has free time, she enjoys reading, watching films, hanging out with friends and listening to new music.
After graduation, Katie hopes to work with victims of human trafficking and domestic abuse.
“There’s this whole group of people out there who need advocates, and I want to be one of those advocates. “
